The European trio wishes to pay a tribute to the sound of the iconic jazz piano trio of the ‘50s and ‘60s.
The musicians have shaped the feeling of the eras with more modern inspirations, which are immediately detectable in their original songs.
Jazz standards and original compositions are performed with intentional simplicity and structural fidelity.
Without intricate arrangements, yet with a human dynamic.
For the Criss Cross trio, this is what gives the song a “life" (thus the title "Alive in Cyprus").
The record was created by Cypriot pianist Christos Yerolatsitis,
the Spanish double bass player Xavi Castillo and the drummer Marcello Spagnolo from Italy.
The aim of the music is to provide an immersive experience for the listener, like someone hearing live music in person during a recording session.
This album was recorded in Cyprus in July 2022.
